Valentine Day is a day we celebrate love. What
better gift to give than one from the heart.
There are many people who do have anyone to
spend time with on this special day and need someone to bring a
smile to their face. Some people may be homeless. Others may be
ill. You can make their day special by giving a gift from your
heart.
If there is a senior citizens home or
convalescent hospital near you, you can buy a package of the
fun Valentine Day cards that kids usually take to school, put
them in the envelopes and pass them out. If you are creative
and have the time, you can make special valentines.
You can do the same for children who are in the
hospital. Visit the pediatric ward at your local hospital. Pass
out valentine cards to the children. You can also take a book
and read a story to one or more of the children.
Another gift from the heart is to volunteer at
your local homeless shelter and help them during the dinner
hour.
Does your loved one have a favorite charity?
You can make a donation in their name as a valentine gift. Most
charities will send a notification card. Or, you can give your
loved one a card with a note stating that you made a donation
in their name.
We generally think of volunteering at
Thanksgiving and Christmas. Gifts from the heart are special
and are appreciated at any time of the year by the people who
receive them.
